Okay so you are just starting out playing ROSEonline, you log on and see all sorts of people with flashy gear and weapons and you want them. This guide will give you the basic outline of how to make decent money in ROSE as well as what to look out for when making those anticipated purchases for the perfect gear.
Let's start out at square one.
-You are a new visitor freshly born on birth island. Here, you can boost your zuly by talking to the fairy NPC's and gaining all sorts of fruits/items/etc. Also, this place is FULL of jellybeans and various other monsters that are easy to kill and give a decent haul for the effort you are putting out. Stay here as long as you can stand it. My first character stayed there till he was level 7 or so. I dont remember how much I got exactly but it was enough to buy some better armor, weapon, arrows, etc at adventure planes when I left. That was without talking to the fairy npc also.
-Class Choice. Also important if you want a good start on ROSE. With my past experience, I would suggest making a character that doesnt take much zeny to level. Soldiers or Katar/DualWep hawkers are great examples. Bows/Guns need ammuniton to function, and to get decent ammo you have to pay quite a bit. Plus in the beginning levels you will find some gear/items to sell more than likely.
-Gathering. I cannot stress this enough. Pick up EVERYTHING. Some people dont just because they are too lazy or dont think they need the item that was dropped. Every little bit helps in this game. Dont put any of it to waste.
-Cashing In. Some items are good to sell to the npc because no one really wants them. But others are items crafters can use to make their lovely crafts. Example, Bird Feathers are bought by the NPC way less than most crafters would pay to get them. I suggest taking a look around and all the shops in town to see what is being sold and what isn't selling to well.
--Subtopic:Appraisal Items. Weapons,Armors,Shields, any type of gear may need appraisal. This means that they have added stats that players will pay good money to get. If you see an item that needs appraising in your inventory. Its worth paying the small fee to get it done, because you never know when you will find a +7/7 or a +5/6 or something along the same lines.
-Buying/Selling(reselling). This can be a great way to increase your profits. I spend about an hour each day just going from town to town, channel to channel finding good deals on stuff. Even if I don't need it. Example, +7Str/+7Dex Bardiche someone was GIVING AWAY for 25k, I sold it a few days later in my shop for 50k, therefore doubling what I payed for it. I probably coulda sold it for more, but I was looking for a fast sale.
-Misleading Shop Titles Equals Disaster. Another point I cannot stress enough. Please do not be like half of the people on ROSE with the title "AP-GEARS! CHEAPCHEAPCHEAPCHEAP" etc. etc. etc. You get the point. Half of these shops AREN'T autopriced and if they are the gear they are selling is worthless for the area they are selling to. The best way to get people in your shop is to just put what you have in your shop in your title. Even if it's "Autopriced Crappy Gear", people do respect that and if they are looking for some crappy gear for a new character they may just come in and buy some. But most people wont take a second look at the shop when they open it and see a bunch of level 15 gear in there when they were expecting more.
-Buying Trick(dealers). After you get a decent ammount of Zuly saved up it may not be a bad idea to make a dealer and get the "Buying Trick" skill. It takes a percentage off of your NPC purchases. I cannot fathom how much money these people are making off of their shops that have 999 fruit/meat/juice/etc in every slot and it happens to be NPC price or below. I'm sure it is a lot though. The idea behind this is simple. Buy goods at a discounted price, and slightly raise the price so it's still cheap for any non-dealer players but you still make a profit. The more expensive the item, the more profit that can be made.
-Gathering II. If you happen to buy something compulsivly that takes all of your zuly and cannot afford to level anymore, I would suggest going to a spot where the monsters are relativly easy for you and just stick it out there for a while till you can make some funds to go leveling. Once you can level in the appropriate spot, finding items and zuly is no big deal. When I level I USUALLY bring back 15-30k worth of just random NPC sell items. So if you are ever short of cash, just level!
-Wheelin' and Dealin'. When you are selling an item, and get more than one interested buyer (most likely via whisper) I find it most strategic to play a game with them for a bit. When I say this I mean, fib a little to make one of the two(or more) give you more zuly than the other. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But hey, you dont have anything to lose, if one of the players bails on you, just sell it to the other one. Giving the price is what you asked in the first place. Example, while selling an asura mask, I had 2 whispers, I told one player that another player offered me 10k more than his offer, so he upped his by 5k and I went back and forth till I settled with 20k above my initial asking price. If people want the item you have, they will pay for it, and pay good.
